so the gas tank tuck is just abount finished. need a little more sheet steel to finish it. came out alright. I drilled and tapped some holes on top to have a bolt on cover incase i ever need to pull my tank, and my tap snape'd a good ways through, so i went to the home guido and purchased another tap. and thing cut one hole then became dull. i threaded all the bolts in and a few of them got stuck and when i tried to remove them they took the threads out with them and they just spun in there, so i said f' it and i just hammered the heads off those bolts.
everything is tack welded, and the gaps are bondo'ed.
i used foam sealant in one place (my floor is wavy and flat steel left big gaps there)
i know we are all our own worst critic though.
I am now debating on a chop top.
not sure if i want a 2 door or keep it 4 door, but im thinkin either chop it like dan's right behind the rear seats (but not as far because if i keep the rear doors i want a comfortable backseat)
either that or chop it right after the front doors and make it more like a pickup.
and if i do go through with this the bed will have some sort of a tonneau cover and an opening to get to the passenger compartment. I want to be able to sleep/store long things in there still.
but i'm gonna save that for when my body becomes as spent as my green jeep at its demise.

tore an irok sidewall on a public road today.
the gas tank tuck is nice, but needs to be finished
i cut away a lil extra metal so i can have easy fuel pump access, but that gives the exhaust that dumps out before the rear axle a nice route to my interior , and it heats the tank up just enough for fumes to seep out of the evap/vent shizahs on top of the tank, and i ran out of sheet to finish the job, so i get a nice mixture of exhaust and gas fumes in my jeep now

i was driving down a narrow road.
it was covered in leaves
i pulled as far to the right as i could safely go (or so i thought)
then my jeep fell into a small ditch and onto a boulder. i went from 20 mph to 5 mph pretty quick, pinched the sidewall against the rim.
the ditch was so full of leaves it appearent to be flat
i can beat the shit out of my jeep offroad and never have a tire issue, but i drive on the street and bam sidewall gone

That really sucks. Who makes a tire with a decent side wall these days?
