Project: Murdered Out

First off let me start by saying; HI, I'm Matt. I met most of you at the last Rausch run, I rode shotty with Kevin (snowblur). I will try and keep up on this thread even though i am terrible about remembering to take pictures.

I'm calling this Project: XJ Savior because I feel like i've saved this Cherokee's life from these toolbag guys that have molested and beat on this jeep. Its a 2000 Cherokee with 125kmiles 4.0l aw4 np231. I found the jeep on Craigslist and it was fairly local so i decided to go check it out. At first glance it looks amazing and it really caught my eye when i first saw it, but after further inspection and meeting the owner you can tell it never had a chance.

Heres a list of things i've found wrong with it so far.
Stock springs on 6" blocks
some sort of coil on 6"spacers
Rear passenger shock broken off
Dana 30 axle Shaft seals leaking fluid
d30 pinion seal leaking
U-joint on the front shaft to the d30 yoke is real bad
front driveshaft slip joint has had it, front shaft wobbles and vibrates
rear bumper is pushed up into the hatch and the hatch wont open
3 minor spots of surface rust on the body
no extended brake lines
Tires are out of balance and vibrate real bad
Its a white knuckle driver, spring wrap is so bad it cause the jeep to vier left under hard acceleration
no catalytic converter muffler has been hollowed out and the whole system is hanging off the manifold
.... and the drivers seat mount is broken and bent

and for some good things
has a advanced adapters SYE and double cardan cv rear shaft
it has a Powertrax locker in the 8.25
some aftermarket LCA's not sure what brand
RE Adjustable trackbar
some decent tread LTB's and new cragar soft 8's
Cold Air intake
it also has a nice Jensen head unit, an amp, sub and speakers that i will probably sell.....

It runs strong and the body is in decent shape and i know the bad list sounds like a whole lot but i honestly dont think it'll be to bad, its just a lot of little things. I already have 4.5" Coils and and leaf springs on they're way as well as Superior axle seals and i picked up a pinion seal at napa today. I also have an '87 Cherokee that i will be stealing miscellaneous parts off of.

i really like the look of it a lot. but holy 6 inch spacer and block batman, fail. your better off just buying a whole new lift. you already got wheels and tires,SYE, trackbar, and locker. just get yourself a 4.5 rustys and LCAs and you will be good to go. i like the name by the way!!!! and holy only 3300? did you get it for less?

I called the owner and i asked him how much he was asking and he said $3200 firm even though the ad said $3300. When i went up to see the jeep and talk to the owner he wasnt home and his brother was letting me look at it and i found all this junk wrong with it and when the guy actually showed up i told him i found a lot wrong with it and i offered him $2800 on the spot and he didnt bite.... Then hes says, i'll take $3000 so i gave it to him.

The funny part is my other friend who was looking to buy a cherokee back late spring early summer looked at this jeep and he wanted $5000, he took one look under it, turned around got in his truck and left.

Like i said i've already got new parts in the mail, 3day shipping should be here tuesday.

Doug i might consider the control arms, we;ll see how the aftermarket LCA its got on it does first.

Holy EPIC FAIL on those 6 inch spacers and blocks. But other than that the jeep looks pretty cool.

yea 17's... i'll be riding dirty

I asked him why 17's and he said he bought the tires off a guy who had them on a rubicon with 17's and they were the right price so he bought them. I think they make the tires look really small, but i'll run them untill they're bald and then i'll take the 15" LTB's off my CJ with 95% tread left and run those.

I'll have to get a picture of the spacers and blocks. They might not be exactly 6" but pretty darn close. I'll measure and get a picture tomorrow.
