Good progress, keep it coming and then we shall go wellling. im not going to register it until i can actually drive it, and the last thing to do is spend a day getting the front in. i was going to paint my d30 last night but it was so cold out that the paint i was tryin to spray on the shocks wasnt going very well. after the front is in i will be able to register it and drive it and go wheelin. slowly but surely

Why bother painting the axles? They are only going to rust again and get scratched and such. Waste of time IMHO.

Why bother painting the axles? They are only going to rust again and get scratched and such. Waste of time IMHO. why wax your jeep if its just going to get scratched again? or paint diff covers. b/c unlike many other people i live in an area where salt takes a big toll on paint and the wax only helps keep it from deteriorating faster. Besides the paint of the vehicle is supposed to be in good shape and waxed where as the axles on any vehicle were only painted to look good when brand new, but within a year of buying a new vehicle the axles are already rusted. But usually within a year the body still looks good. Oh and i wax right over scratches. Why paint the axles when you dont even wax the jeep? It makes no sense to me that you would take time to paint axles but not take time to wax your jeep and possibly make it look a little better or last longer. I highly doubt that the surface rust on your axles is going to rot them out any time soon. Also its is not as frequently that i scratch the body of my jeep as i do the underside, Most of the trials we run are relatively free of things that will severely scratch the paint. I paint diff covers because the are shipped bare metal. The axle was already rusted so i did not see any worth in grinding it down and painting it. just to get scratched. and when i scratch my diff covers i am not going to strip them down and repaint them. I also dont see any logic behind selling a stronger D 44 for a 8.25 just because its already geared.
