i built/installed the 44 in january of 06. it failed july 3rd of 07, gears blew up. had it regeared the end of that month.

haha.. it dont hate me it had these problems as i bought it this way.. one of the reasons i got it so cheap. so within a week or so itll be fixed in the shop. and will be sweet.. thing runs and drives mint.. already go new seat and miror. now just need electric stuff fixed and new grill..

Will that nut must have loosened itself. It may seem like it's tight right now but I'm sure it backed off and stopped where it is, eliminating the pinion preload it was set to and increasing the backlash, possibly ruining the gears. I'd check it sooner than later.
