that can happen, sucks though because the carrier has to come out if you want a correct pinion preload setting again. Hopefully it's a u joint or something

Should I have this much play in my pinion? its been a lonnng time since ive even tested for this so i cant recall. seems like quite a lot to me... also the pinion nut was not loose.

i almost wonder if you chipped a tooth on the pinion. is it that sloppy throughout the entire rotation of the yoke?

i almost wonder if you chipped a tooth on the pinion. is it that sloppy throughout the entire rotation of the yoke? i seriously doubt that. but i could be wrong. Seems like either the pinion preload wasnt set correctly in the first place or that the pinion nut wasnt torqued correctly thus working loose.
