If you're that picky, why not go with a selectable rear locker, like an ARB air locker or something along those lines? i think he is going for the cheaper route, not the 800-1000 dollar route

Just would be something I would get sometime in the future when I had the cash. And THANK YOU to those who finally answered my "push in 2wd" question, haha. I appreciate it. Now that I know that, I will be putting a lock right in the front for now, and I'll choose whats going out back when the time comes.

heres what ya gotta do:
take another rear axle (of the same type you have) cut everything but the part of the center section that houses the pinion gear, and booger weld it onto your current differential so the gear meshes with the top of the ring gear. now run a small driveshaft to another rear axle behind your original one.
bam
now you have another tire spinning with no risk of this dreadful push you speak of

I have a detroit in the rear and snow is a non issue. I used to think that front vs rear would be better but i tried rear first and love it. i use 4x less too in the snow.

Personally I don't mind spinning my tires a little bit but I will lock my rear first, mostly because a locked Dana 30 on 33's makes me a little nervous. Though many people get away with it for a long time then blow a ring gear out of no-where, phil
