OK, finally did some real work on this thing. we decided on a chop top and roll cage. got it planned out pretty good. just gotta figure out pipe and finding a bender. we ripped up the rear floor and took out the rear seat and chopped it right behind the front seats. i think it looks awesome and once a cage is in, even better. for the rear suspension we took out the stock shocks and coils and replaced the coils with TJ coils. this prob gave it about 3 inches of lift in the rear. i was going to use stock size skyjacker cherokees hocks and weld in some BPEs but the shocks were too short for the stock mounting locations. so im going to weld a crossmember in and make some shock mounts and figure out some shocks to use. as for test driving, without shocks in the back or any sort of limiting, the coil popped out after flexing it. for the bed we are prob just going to make a wood floor that we could take in and out for repair purposes. the cage will be put in sometime soon and we may incorporate a tire carrier into the the cage.
as for the front, we modified some TJ coil spacers and put them up there to just give it 2 inches of lift. simple and easy, but it works. no more tire rubbing up front and the tires actually turn lock to lock.
we made a lot of progress today and im really happy with how it looks. i cant wait to get this thing done, for now.

took it out for some test driving today.....pics below. made a few more improvements. instead of the stock control arm having a ball joint type fitting on the axle(since we broke it a few days ago) we replaced it with a pin and heim joint and welded everything in place. this allows it to flex better and move. i dont have pics but i will get them up. also when we broke the rear control arm joint it caused the axle to twist backwards and pull the driveshaft out which cracked the t case housing. so we got the rear housing off the old broken t case and slapped it on. we also had a problem with the rear coils popping out and since there are no shocks we welded some chain limiting straps for now. but who knows we may keep them. Bryan also made a bryan customs simple bumper and welded it in place with a little skid plate/ font end strengthener under that. with D-rings. also, we got a cage in the thing. its extremely simple made out of beefy square tubing. looks like shit but does the trick and def stiffened the body. right now its just a main hoop and diagonals to the frame in the "bed."
