Well I ordered up everything except the tubing I need to build a replica/my version of the Poison Spyder rear stinger and tire carrier. I used Poly Performance for the upper and lower busings as well as the upper tabs. I used Copperhead Fabrication for the lower tabs, corner gussets, tubing gussets, spare tire mount and hydraulic ram attachment for the bender. I also ordered up the hydraulic ram from Harbor Freight, the quick relase ball pins and lanyards from Reid Supply. Stay tuned for updates on progress.

Yes, like that. However I think the skid plate will have to be a little different since there is no way I will be able to shape 3/16" or 1/4" steel plate to fit the bend in the stinger.

how do you feel about that design steve? I love the PSC design and I was all set on getting it but the more i looked at it i thought it would ruin approach angle?

Thats a great call Cody. I think it will hinder the approach angle some, definately. However, I really like the design but plan to modify it slightly. I think one of the changes I will make is going to be putting the less of a bend on the bottom so it sits up higher and doesnt completely toast my approach angle. Also, the PSC version is capable of holding up to a 40" tire so it will inevitably be deep to accomidate the widest of tires. I am going to suck the tire carrier in more as well so there is less of a gap between the spare tire and the body. In some of the side pictures that I have seen, there is at least a 6" gap between the tire and body (it looked that way at least). I am going to try to cut that gap down a little. I have a 14" wide tire and dont have any plans of going wider.

Ill have to see how it comes out too. This will be my first time using my bender...or any bender for that matter. But Im pretty confident that I will make something that will work well and Ill be happy with. Today I ordered up a set of Poison Spyder trail corners so I can weld tabs onto for the upper stinger mounts. Also, my quick release pins (spring loaded ball) came in today. I ordered a set of 10" steelbraided and nylon coated lanyards to keep from loosing the pins when I pull them out.

Okay, so I got a few items in today. Here is the Copperhead Fabrication mount for the hydraulic ram for my tubing bender. Here is also some parts from Copperhead Fab and Poly Performance. Upper and lower bushings (lowers with grease fittings), upper and lower mounting brackets, license plate tabs, gussets, tubing gussets, tubing caps and spare tire mounting plate. The trail corners come in tomorrow and the ram for the bender comes in on Thursday.

Thats a great call Cody. I think it will hinder the approach angle some, definately. I have a 14" wide tire and dont have any plans of going wider. I dont think it will affect the approach angle that much. I'd think in most situations it would scrape a little rather then hang you up. But I'm looking forward to see how it comes out and how it works. your statement about the tires overflows with lies. Please see to it that it never happens again.
