Thanks i will do that, whats the torque? 145 to 150 lbs right?

The local bearing shop i was at today working on another project said if i get the measurement they can get me a speedy sleeve.

so i have 2 questions

1. Where do i measure from? Right where the seal contacts the shaft?

2. They said they are $30 to 60 Depending on whats needed. Does this sound right?

With everyone doing all this painting lately i figured i get in on it. My doors were really scratched up at the bottoms and my rock sliders were looking pretty shitty. I also had to trim my front fenders more so i did that as well. It took two days to do it all because of weather but i got it done.

I painted the lower section of the doors and body like its painted on the older 96- cherokee sports, i liked how it was on my 95 so i did it to this.

removed front flares and half the rear, scuffed the doors and body and flap discd the sliders and re primmed it. I also removed the vents and the door sill guards in the door jambs to get a better finish and clean up any scuffing from the years of use. ]
Flares back on and all finished up


Drivers side is done as well.

Did some more shit today.

I did an idler pulley this morning and i swapped in a 95 xj washer fluid bottle this afternoon so my stock in fender washer fluid bottle stops acting as a bump stop and no longer leaks (bushwacker does not say be careful when drilling holes for flares on the 97+ model xjs oops.)

Note: you can only do this way with the 95xj washer bottle in the stock place on a 97+ if you no longer have a/c in the vehicle, the a/c stuff is in the way thats why it was in the fender factory on 97+.

All i had to do was extend the wires for the plugs and sensors and relocate the lines for the washer fluid. Took about an hour.

Simple green it was.

So here is the series of events of the past few weeks.

Drivers side rear axle shaft seal is leaking due to worn shafts, Tried to fix it but w/o a new shaft or speedy sleeve i was unable to do so.

Last week, my dying fuel pump kicked the bucket and in the process i shorted out my $180 optima yellow top battery that is out of warranty.

So i ordered a new pump, complete assembly, $303.37 from the dealership with my discount.

Took 5 days for the pump to come in and i swap it in. Now i have a problem of my exhaust hitting my leaf springs and getting in the way while wheeling. So while i had the room i took it out from muffler back (flowmaster) I put a 90* down turn on it and it is wicked loud and it hits the axle just a bit cause the muffler is too far back. I will fix this next weekend i hope. (pics to come of my master exhaust plan)

SO i get the pump in and go out and buy a sears Die hard gold battery to get going again while i email optima and see if they can help with such a random freak batter discharge.

The jeep runs again and now it idles great and most of all starts with one try not two now.

The down side, i noticed that now both my rear axle seals are leaking.

I am going to watch the fluid level for now and with my new job after some bills are paid off i am going to buy new alloy shafts fro it instead of fucking with speedy sleeves and getting bearings pressed etc.

I may consider selling my slightly used Detroit and get a new one for 33 spline and get upgraded 33 spline shafts as well.

This is all on top of my current list of things to fix most that require welding, and i dont have a welder at my grasp yet.

My to do list before winter to roughly complete my jeep.. for now

Fix rear upper shock mounts driving me crazy (not a far trip)Done
Replace rear shocks can wait till spring Done
Fix exhaust 1/2 doneDone
Replace header (cracked) can wait till spring
Fix rust holes in floor just need to borrow a welder
Replace 98+ door hinges with 96- door hinges so my doors dont sag and i can go doorless easier (doors sag wicked bad dont go doorless on a 98+)
Fix axle seals/ get alloy usa shafts Done but with yukon shafts
Finish rear tool box just need the time
Finish installing oba tank and regulator
Replace very worn and cracked wind shield
New front speakers (fronts are blown) getting some soon Done
Rewire all 4 speakers just need time i have the wire already Front done
Replace fuel pump and Reinstall gas tank skid Done
Fix Detours tire carrier bushing Done
Reinforce ARB bumper and install frame tie ins Sold
Fix cracked/ damaged heater core/fan housing box under dash
Get spare front shafts
JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET


I am sure there is more stuff to do...

thats quite a laundry list. good luck man. and dont get 33 splines its not worth the hassle of regearing again.

LOL, its only an idea i was toying with.

Do you really have to regear to do that? Cant you just swap the ring gear to the new locker and put it back in? I dunno about this stuff i am a newb. I thought i would only have to regear if i changed the pinion.

It is long but alot of that stuff i can do real cheap or here and ther after work or on weekends. I am going to try and get at least 4 things off that list this weekend. Emphasis on the "try."
