I had this week off so i got a lot done and took some pics. I finished all the body work which included welding up some of the seams that were coming apart, patching some holes, notching out the firewall and dovetailing the rear. I spent a good 20 hours or more welding sheet metal. A guy walked buy my shop and asked if i was a professional body guy. nothing is too fancy here since once its done the body is going to get beat on a lot. dovetail heres the firewall. I welded in some thicker plate where the pedals and booster bolt up The bottom of the tub and firewall ahve several coats of rustoluem flat black oil based enamal, applied with a brush heres a view of the floor and roll cage tie ins I raised the whole drivetrain 2.5" now its pretty much as good as it gets. from the top from below heres my pedal assembly and booster. the booster stock from an 81 cj and the pedals are from the same jeep, slightly modified to fit in my jeep. the steering column is from the same 81 cj7 I would say this is one of the most involved parts of this whole project was getting the pedals, column, and booster to fit right. Measure 1 dozen times, cut/ drill one time and they came out awesome poser shot and a box came....oh shit.... more to come

good to see everyone at the m&g for the brief time i was there... I would have hung out longer but i had this shit on my mind, hope it is worthy of ducking out early. steering box mount... using a stock yj box drilled and tapped for hydro assist by greg @ banditt (the old box on his jeep) start the plate is 5/16 thick. the little round pieces are from a towing shackle set that same with my big jeep. I laid the box flat on a table and measured the distance from the ears to the table then added 1/8" to each lenth (so the steering box sits 1/8" off the mount) fully welded and drilled. The box is held on by four 7/16" bolts finished Measuring Frame. not easy to do the box is heavy. double check measurements on mount Drill inside Drille outside Cut a piece of 1/4" plate to reinforce outside of frame Clamp Weld Drill Mount mount weld sweet i still have some trimming and reinforcing to do but thats basically it. next is the steering shaft

I cut the front crossmember in half to make some extra room for the radiator and steering: start: plasma cut clamp 3/16 plate cut off excess then weld notch with some 1/2 tube for steering shaft finish: cap ends with 2"x1/8" smooth, paint steering shaft: cj/yj hybred installed notch works nice now i can steer with the steering wheel

the wiring is actually not bad i think i could do it in a lot less time having done it once. I have another harness im going to do for a spare........... might do all the same stuff to the little jeep next year as far as pedals, steering column, 4.3 tbi and an sm420. ..
called dutchman motor sports today (finally). I am probably getting a custom 1541H alloy long side shaft built. It is not chromoly but stronger than stock. I have to fill out the order form tomorrow and fax it in. I dont plan on gernading a lot of 60 parts.
