When a band that you listen to makes a controversial song or music video, or something that offends you, can you look past it and just enjoy the music? There is a band I like, they are awesome musicians and for the most part , make really awesome videos, but some of their shit pissed me off and makes me think, wow , what a bunch of pussies.
Anyone here know what I mean or can relate? I would love to see the band in concert but it would be hard to rock out to a song that pisses me off. Many of their fans agree with their issues and in my opinion are a bunch of liberal hippies.

no. not really a political thread loophole, but now that you bring it up, they are not huge fans of george bush and their music shows it.

green day is a bunch of liberals who hate bush and so on
but then i decide i dont care because thats what all musicians are (majority) and when it comes down to it i listen to their music for the sound to my ears, not cuz i give a flying fawk what they think of george bush or the gubment. their opinion holds no more weight than any other fool
they have a couple politically charged songs

I enjoyed American Idiot for it's songs as a whole. Music, Lyrics, The whole thing. Though it can't touch Nimrod.

I don't like system of a down or rage against the machine because of their political beliefs AND because I think their music sucks, so it is a double whammy.

the band in question is rise against. They have some really good music, but they are pussies when it comes to certain things. Couple of examples of their videos include crying about the rain forest getting cut down, people eating meat, natural disasters such as katrina and the tsunami, gas prices, the war in iraq, ect.
here is their latest video, which sparked my interest for this thread

this is something i take to heart.
1- many popular "groups" only make music for one reason and one reason only: to sell records.
thus, they populize on the "political mindfuck agenda" bc everyone can jump on and say "man i can relate to that" and buy the record. not saying some bands do truly believe what they write, bc many of the original bands to start this 4+ years ago did. green day, yellowcard, and others did practice what they preached. it caught on and the labels saw that and dollar signs popped up in their eyes.
2- music is never controversial to me, ever. it is an expression of one's self. you have the freedom to write what you love, and perform it in front of people, and if youre making thousands, even millions of dollars doing it, more power to you, thats awesome.
3- lastly, if youre saying "well what about music you hate adam? what about gangsta rap and booty shakin pussy sweat videos?" i just think thats stupid. there are a few rappers who have talent and do it bc they love it, and there are others (well, most of them) that are fucktards who do it for the fame, diamonds, and idiocracy. to them, fuck you. you and the RIAA ruined the music industry.

i knew even before you said it that you were talking about rise against mike. they are one of my favorite bands because the music is amazing. yes they are extemelly political but i look past it. a few of their songs have some deep meaning to me but i'll never dislike any of them for the opinion they share
oh and i saw them in october with alkaline trio and thrice. it was one of the best shows of my life. go see em, fuck shit up in the pit during the songs that annoy you and have a good time
