Rage is one of my favorite bands, and I def like SOAD. I'm actually getting "Anger is a Gift" tattoo'd on me. From this song. People like music for all different reasons, people like music that they can connect to. Can't hate someone for the music they like to listen to or write.

I listen to country mostly. A lot of country songs have great and meaningful lyrics plus i just like the music in general. I agree with everything adam said, except we listen to different kinds of music. but, bands have the right to sing about what they want to as it is an expression of themselves, I wouldnt stop listening to them because one song was offensive to me.

When a band that you listen to makes a controversial song or music video, or something that offends you, can you look past it and just enjoy the music? There is a band I like, they are awesome musicians and for the most part , make really awesome videos, but some of their shit pissed me off and makes me think, wow , what a bunch of pussies. Anyone here know what I mean or can relate? I would love to see the band in concert but it would be hard to rock out to a song that pisses me off. Many of their fans agree with their issues and in my opinion are a bunch of liberal hippies. Marilyn Manson. I love the music but I really really don't like him. So yes, I can look past a musician's personal beliefs and just enjoy the music. I thought it would be hard, but if the music is good enough it's really not. I guess it depends on how much you love the music.

I don't care how controversial a band is unless the resulting media backlash causes me to not hear/see that song, such as suicide silences price of beauty video was banned by MTV and their affiliates

Yeah we all can relate. I listen to country and rock. I know most people hate country but i like cause there really are some good songs out there and they are patriotic.

Im a huge country girl and love old and new age country; its what i was brought up on. I also like rock, some oldies, and many different genres of music. I stay away more from the rap/r&b because i am not into some demeaning or lyrics that cause controversy. But i guess you could say some of the bands i like to end up having a controversial song once in awhile, but i look past it.

I used to listen to their stuff back in the day and now their new song chants about young gay republicans. Kinda throws me off but I wouldn't say its offensive.
