I am a newb to gears and what not, I want to get my axles regeared and I was wondering what I need to get with the ring and pinon. What places should I go with to order the stuff? with a 5spd and 32s should I go with 4.56 or 4.10, I plan on going to 33/12.5? Does anyone on here wanna get paid to do gears? Anything else invoved I should know about?

new ring and pinion master overhaul kit( comes with new bearings and shims and everything you will need)
id go 4.56 because you will regret going to 4.10 imo.
I did mine. they are not that hard but not for the faint of heart either.

I'd do your gears for ya if you wanted. PM me for more info. But I highly recommend 56s and you'll either need carriers or order what they call "thick" gear sets. All that means is the ring gear is thicker so you don't need a different carrier.

In my opinion, i would get a new front carrier for the d30 because the offset of the price for a thick set to a normal set and a carrier is kinda the same. Complete has a good full kit. Gears, install kits for both front and rear. a carrier is like 40$ on ebay. What rear? I have 4.56 in my MJ with 33 and a 5speed. if you are just going to wheel it, 4.56 is nice. On the highway im buzzing the crap out of it in 5th wishing i had 6th. 4.10 would be nice but that is my opinion. If its an auto, 4.56 or even 4.88 because once you go 33's, you will want 35's lol. depends on how often you drive and wheel. My .02

whats your opinion on staying low with axle gears(3.55, 3.73, 4.10) for the road's sake and getting a 4:1 kit for the 231, thats what i think im gonna look into doing.

4.56 would be better for the highway? I would think that it would put my RPMs much hight with a 5 spd.

3.55 carrier is good for up to 3.73 gears. a new carrier is in order for 4.10 or 4.56. I really think you should do 4.56 because you will want bigger tires later on even tho everybody says they wont.
So what you need is 4.56 for a hp 30 and your rear axle master install kits for front and rear axles carriers front and rear for 4.56 gears
call classic city offroad aka ccor as they have some of the best prices around.

I understand about the 4.56 but if I plan on running 35s I will have a locked 30. Isnt it not a good thing having a locked 30 on 35s?
