well i need a locker and am lookin at the aussie locker for my 29 spline 8.25. it fits into my budget a lot better at $300 than the no-slip does at around $410. does anyone have experience with them? good, bad? hear anything about them. any advice would schweet

I've got an aussie in my 30 and I think it works pretty awesome. The 8.25 aussie is fairly new but I don't see how it would be a bad locker.

I'd personally go with a front locker first. Aussie makes good stuff though

i'm thinking i will lock the rear this winter, and by the end of next summer when i have more money i will throw an aussie in the front 30 if i like the rear aussie. the front aussie 30 is only $240 so its pretty cheap.... would it be better to do this in reverse order and do front first like snowblur suggested???
and yea phil i saw they were pretty new so i wanted to make sure i heard good things before purchasing something so new

havent really heard much about them since they are new. ive only had experience with the no-slip and it is silent. id say quality should be great just try to find a personal opinion of how loud it is.

the aussie is a harsher locker than the lock right i ran in my 8.25, but then again will's lock right is louder than my aussie in each of our 44s, but he has other issues. anyway, i wouldnt run anything but an autolocker in the rear of my jeep (cept a selectable but $)
its loud sometimes, but its 150% manageable and in 0 way hinders handling unless youre stupid and cant drive.

it's just my opinion, I haven't yet had to experience what it's like to drive around in a good amount of snow on hard roads with a rear locker (or a front locker for that matter) but my thoughts are.... I normally drive around in 2 wheel, I use 4 wheel on the road if i need help getting up a snowy hill (or back onto the road), that's about it. It seems to me that if I had a rear locker and went around a corner with any amount of snow, even at low speeds I would increase my chances of breaking the rear end loose (not cool unless I'm trying to). BUT if I only had a front locker I'd be good, because in the few occasions I needed 4 wheel on the road I wouldn't be worried about loosing a little steering control because those rare times I'm using 4 wheel on the road, It's at really low speeds. THIS is all only because I still dive my Jeep on the road a good amount, and 5 months out of the year it's in snow. If it weren't for that my rear would be welded right now.

Id do it, i love my Detroit rear in my 44 but if i still had the 8.25 id prolly aussie it. See if you can find reviews on it before you buy cause it is so new but other than that id go for it.
