So here's the plan, ford 9 rear, dana 60 front, when i put them in i want to change from springs to coils only in the front with long arm, and go to 2 in leaves in the rear. Gear ratio sugesstions?? Good company that i could get just the front long arm set-up/coils/shocks from. And can anyone help my out with building a truss on the ford 9, it's older so the case is weaker

clayton makes great brackets / spring buckets / logn arms/ and trusses. call and they will hook you up. fyi metal prices are up so anywhere you go for pre-fabbed shit is going to be expensive, my buddy just dropped $300 for front brackets for his jeep (everything for a 4-link setup). but if you dotn have the time/tools/skills needed to make your own i would go this route. dont bother tryn to re-use your old brackets cuz they are junk.
what size tire are you running? are you going to run a doubler? 4:1 t-case kit? how much road? these things will affect your gearing choice.
and i think the truss for the 9 is overkill if your staying under 40" tires. what spline 9 do you have? are you upgrading your third member/locker to 35 spline??

I thought you asked what size gears to run. 35 spline is just aftermarket i believe and its the locker not the third member, i was wondering if you were getting a high pinion one.

I know that my Clayton brackets and install form my 60 and 14 bolt came to $1200. It gets really expensive depending how you do it and what quality of brackets you want. Have you considered air shocks? I know that if I was to do my axles over I would have gone with air shocks. By the time the brackets (front and rear was over $700 + installation) was done, I could have bought 2.0 air shocks and bent up some hoops for easier installation. I suggest keeping your options open to air shocks as the cost, depending on who and what you buy, may be relatively the same cost. If you need a truss built up, Dave and I have benders and Im sure that either of us can bend one up for you. I have 1.5" and 1.75" dies and I think Dave has others.

i would truss a 9"
i beleive doug bent his on 37" mall claws
and what in the heck do ya mean "i want to change from springs to coils in the front" coils are springs and you have them right now anyway.
and why are you set on 2" leafs? stock is 2.5" and you don't need to fuck with mounting width, i have little experience with going to a different width leaf spring but i think you would need to run more leaves for the same height and the thicker pack will hinder your flex, might help for axle wrap but what do i know.
what size tires?
truhi9 is the only 9" i would run. pinion is too damn low for my tastes in a lp 9

sry, when i said 2" leaves i ment leaf springs with a 2" lift, i have leaves with a 4" now, and those with SOA would make me to high. As for the ford 9 i think i'm selling it, i just aquired a rockwell axle and will probably use that instead if i can make it fit.

WTF? Are you planning on running only a rear rockwell? Just 86 that 9 inch, get a 14 bolt and call it a day.

Guys, are you saying rockwells is a bad idea? I just got some unimog axles, and i was only planning on running 31s, I know that might be pushing it but I dont want to snap a shaft.
Its alright dude, we are just busting your balls. Ive had 4 jeeps before, and I still dont know much about axles, good thing I know sam because he is always helping me out with Axle tech.

i have done a few axle swaps in the past, a few 44's and a dana60, all built from scratch and i would never consider a rockwell
