So a while back i made some sliders that tied into my frame, didnt work to good so i chpped them off got some regular 3/16" sliders that mount to tub AND body mounts for more strength but i didnt want the tube work that EVERYONE has in it so im going to put my own step/slider on it cut the "step" to mount flush on the slider what its going to look like anyone see any issues with this? I basically need the "step" to stick out, i used it all the time to pivot around trees, went wheeling a few times with then off and it just sucks i miss being able to use them. im just worried about their being enough surface area with the three contact points on the step to weld to the slider? should i trim it down even more so i can weld more length? what do ya'll think?

i would assume that would be enough of a contact area, seeing as my sliders on my jeep only are connected to the frame at 2 points.
maybe through some gussets on it if you have to, but you should be fine.

So that plate just bolts to the tub and thats it? No frame attachments or anything? I wouldn't worry about only three attachment points at all. I would be concerned with bending in the tub. I haven't examined the tub of a tj in awhile so I could be off.

dana, i just finished my sliders tonight for the big jeep, they are the same idea. I am using 2" angle to bolt to the side of the tub with four 3/8 bolts on each side. the angle protects the side and underneath. I think on tjs/yjs/cjs you ton really need to tie to the frame, the type of design you have here protects pretty well

heres a pic of what i started with...the previous owner of my jeep used them for years and they worked great for him he said. i just bent up some tube to run along it for extra protection and to help get in (i am short). Ill have pics of the finished product up sometime soon.
