much to learn, you have, young padawan. Haha, your telling me. I can take my trans am apart and put it back together with my eyes closed, but I'm a beginner to 4x4's! Sucks but I'll pick it up quickly. There are so many ways to get lift. I'd prefer to stay away from body lifts....just looks odd to me. I'd rather pay to have my suspension do all the work. Coil spacers I'd try if I wanted a cheap quick way to get a little more lift, but I want to get the right stance the first time with springs alone.

The budget scrap lift for the TJ is ZJ V8 springs in the front, and Crown Vic springs in the rear. That should bring you up at around 3" all the way around. I haven't done it but I have heard nothing but good things from those that have. I think you have to cut the end angle off ZJ springs (Just the very end where it comes in on it's self) to make them fit the TJ perch though. I'm pretty sure that's the only thing that needs to be done with the springs, but don't quote me one that. All of this is secondhand knowledge for me, but I'm pretty sure that' the general consensus.

I would def give this a shot if I found a set cheap enough. Let me know how much your guys want for the springs, and I'll do a little research on this tonight after work.

i had 3" springs with rockkrawler lower arms on the tj for about a year once i switched to the setup i posted earlier it drove way better and i could tell the improvement in contact pressure and stability offroad.
there is nothing wron with with a 1" body lift and there not that easily noticed where as a3" looks retarded and put more force on the body mounts in the case of an accident.

Well, ZJ springs are out. I did a little looking aroud and found out that you can only use the fronts, because the rears wont lift a TJ, and the ride sucks if you dont have a heavy bumper and winch because you have to use the stiffer springs from the V8 ZJ. I don't want to mess around with the hassle of parts from other vehicles anyways.
Are rusty's springs really not that great? Any horror stories about them any of you have heard of? I just want to do this once and not have to worry about it for a while.
Was looking at Skyjacker springs too. I know they are a reputable company. Anyone using them?

Now I just need some cash and they will be on the way. On another note, I took my jeep wheelin the other day 100% stock just to see what it would do. I have never been in or had a TJ to go in before, only my old YJ, and it was a WORLD of a difference. The TJ is soooo much smoother off road, and offers so much more articulation stock. I also went through a few mud pits which were very soft since it's been real wet around here lately. I made it through 2 pits that everyone reccomends you have 32's or bigger to go through. Overall I was happy, and I made a believer out of a buddy that went with me......hes a full size chevy guy, but he was very impressed with the capability of my "tiny" jeep. I'll definately have to test it out again with the lift and 33's. Can't wait!
