mine need replacin'
i have good compression, but i blow heavy smoke at idle and low RPMs... basically while wheeling. and i lose a lot of oil. ive been looking around online at how to replace em, and it seems pretty easy. no removing the head which is a good thing. i'll probably do this winter break in my neighbor's garage who has every tool imaginable.
so is it an easy thing to do?

doesnt look like it should be too hard. just make sure to replace all the gaskets/seals and use the proper torque specs for the rockers and everything else

yea thats what i figure. biggest problem would be dropping something down into the head, but if i make sure the piston im working is on is at TDC ill be fine. i figure ill check the pushrods and the rest of the valve train while im at it.

There is a tool make shure you dont drop anything into the cylinder. It screws into the spark plug hole and uses compressed air to hold the valves up.

I've done Honda ones. The 4.0 is the same. Make sure you pressurize the cylinder to keep the valves from dropping in.
