hey fred, remember after RC, you had a hard time keeping up speed on the highway. Did you ever resolve that problem?

Collapsed exhaust manifold. from sinking in the mud pit. Ive got a set of borla headers going in during this build to fix that problem.

ah, that would explain the lack of torque!

1. your an idiot for catching youself with the wheel 2. while wearing those goggles dave can only be referred to as "Baron Von Oliveriastein" and he can only talk about his Bi-plane in which he enjoys flying on a regular basis or about how the goggles, they do nothing! 3. you take a damn picture of the monsters face and post it up right now!

You are very lucky that you did not get your self worse with that wheel. My friend slipped with his cutoff wheel and cut his left thumb half way off, thank god they were able to reconnect the tendons and tissue again. Hes lucky he did not get nerve damage.

welcome to the 8 lug club, looking good i kinda want a tj Thanks! its good to be a part of. and yeah, I guess im pretty lucky the cut wasnt worse. usually im pretty careful too. just a stupid slip up on my part tho. Anyway, progress: The rear is IN! I do have some issues tho. First, pictures are in order... or else none of this happened. Last night, got it in, rear tires on, lowered to the ground. Its wide, nothing like Steve's, but wider than I thought it would be. I had a good laugh at my buddy Will who was helping me as he tried to get the tire mounted. He's big into BMW's and is not used to tires so heavy. He told me that he can pick up all 4 of his little 2002's tires at the same time. he was really struggleing to get this one on tho haha Anyways, here are some shots during the day at ride height: I like how it sits, unfortunatly, i thought there would be a bit more adjustment in the arms when we welded everything, as I welded the truss flush with the diff cover surface as Clayton's site recommended. So the pinion angle is a little on the low side. Im still debating whether I can get away with it. and yes I tacked and checked, I just took a gamble and i came up short. so do we think I can get away with it? And dont mind Will. haha I sucked down the lowers as much as possible. which, BTW, was a pain in the ass. Anyway, thats where im at. Ill pull the front tomorrow morning so i can get to work on it. Set up the 60 and started taking some stuff off to lighten it up. its a heavy pig! and of course, the few bonus pics. My D35: and the monster Kai mentioned that appeared in my garage after painting: so yeah, Im gettin there.

Yes sir. uppers are out as far as they can go without hitting the gas tank. i even knocked the front of the tank skid back. if i can find smaller lock nuts for the lowers ill be set. lets hope.

^ Thanks guys. Anyway, update time. Because of various reasons, I havent really had a chance to work on this, like at all. so im a bit behind. but what the hell, half the fun is in pushing deadlines right? The plan WAS to leave thursday at 6 to head to RC. its tuesday night. Im planning on sleeping tonight, then pulling an almost solid 24hour wrench session tomorrow-thursday. CAN HE DO IT? We'll find out, wont we! hahaha. Anyways, heres where Im at: Finally pulled the front. COME HERE FUCKER! i had to score and bend the bracket/cut the bolt holding the trackbar in because it wouldnt come out... i did it in a way that i can easily fix it, but im still pissed it came to that. but drastic times call for drastic measures. Kai then helped me to unbolt the control arms: The lowers were a bitch to get off. Breaker bar action to the max! And thats how it sits now... the next step, making all the stuff from the old fit the new. I havent measured yet, but im hoping some of whats all ready mounted on the 60 is in the right spot, that way I can save time, if only to be ready for this trip, then i could go back and modify things if i want to. but we'll see. i doubt im that lucky, regardless of if this axle was said to be a "bolt in" from the guy I got them from or not. Things left to do to make the run. get the 60 in, run the brake lines in the rear. get a new yoke for the 60... its looking like I'll have to MAKE a rear driveshaft haha... ill post up the idea/pictures tomorrow. create a fill hole in the rear diff cover, make a draglink from what i got laying around. run air lines/figure out what to do about locking the ARBs for this trip. other than that, i think all i need is new lug nuts for the rear (the ones on there are scratching/will probably pull through the rims.) fluids, and I'll be rolling. Lets hope. Oh, and of course, today's bonus pics: Control arms building arms to control... But yeah, like I said. Crunchtime=Now
