looks awsome man. you gonna do anything where the tailgate would be on a regular body? a jerry can holder or something would be sick i dont think so, a jerry can would be bad news if i got rear ended. plus with the fuel cell i gained 5 gallons of capacity over stock. i need to figure out where to mount the liscence plate

been doing wiring and a lot of little odds and ends getting ready to get this baby on the road and start daily driving it now that its starting to get nice out sick high performance 1.75" exhaust painted silver for some extra ponies installing the headlights, wiring fuse panel mounted behind dash on drivers side running the wires in the engine bay engine bay progress pics of the dash and the rest of the wiring fuck show and what the heck! When I bought the jeep the guy told me it was a 48 cj (even tho it it was an m38 which was a military model made from 1950-52 for the US) when I bought it there was no tags that I could find at all anywhere, all it had was the old liscence plate "JEEP 48." Well tonight i was taking the ballast resistor out of the old tub and what do i find in the glove box? I dont know how i missed that!

ive been in the garage every night this week from when i get home from work til midnight or later trying to finish this.... there is so much little stuff that is very time consuming. Hope to have it registered by then end of the week, and i was hoping to be driving it but doesnt look like it right now. The electirical is about 90% done. Tonight i actually put a battery in it and checked out the lights... pretty cool. Fuel lines are done. Added a spin on style remote oil filter and plumbed that in. All using 1/4 inch hard line I started on the brakes... I was hoping id get lucky and just replace the lines and be ok, but doesnt look like it. I snape'd off one wheel cylinder bleeder so tomorrow im going to be jumping into a complete brake overhaul. more time and $

i have been extremely busy with this altho it doesnt seem like ive done much, all the little stuff seems to take forever. most of the wiring is done. All the fuel and oil lines are plumbed. Just finishing the brakes up and some other odds and ends. I converted to a spin on style oil filter and plumbed it in using 1/4: hard line. Stock it had a canister style fuel lines universal turn signal I had a brake dialemma, i didnt want to pour a ton of money into the stock 9" drums that are notorious for poor stopping power. So i picked up a used front axle that had 11" brakes and locking hubs, to convert my axle. I talked to an older fellow who lives in town who has a 53 flattie with 11" brakes front and stock 9" in the rear and he said it going to the 11" in front was like having power brakes. I dove into it not knowing much about this old stuff but now I get to learn Donor axle. Hubs are warn premiums parts is parts $35 KD tools 2 3/32 spindle nut socket i wound up needing 11" brake next to a 9" I found that in order to convert to manual locking hubs from the stock drive flanges, you must switch axle shafts. The drive flange outer is threaded, while the locking hub outer has no threads and a groove for a snap ring. When i pulled the shafts out i found the locking hub shafs had a u joint, while the older drive flange shafts has a loose ball style joint(that instanly fell apart) the i joint shafts are obviously a good upgrade. One final advantage of the 11" swap is the hub for the larger brakes uses a larger wheel bearing. Here are the shafts. Top is the U joints style i am switching to to run locking hubs. Middle is the stock shafts with loose balls. both of the shafts are 10 spline inner and outer. Bottom is a 30 spine dana 60 outer for reference! The stock brakes were actually in excellent shape other than seized wheel cylinders. In the rear im going to just change wheel cylinders and probably be fine. Heres the stock rear one final mod is to conver the jeep to right hand thread wheel studs throughout. On the older jeeps, they used left hand thread studs and lug nuts on the drivers side

all the new brake parts are in: Drums, shoes and hoses for the front, Wheel cylinders for the rear and RH thread wheel studs for the left side should be ready to drive by the end of the weeked
