I am hoping to get my axles done this month so they are ready for the mabelle trip coming up. So with axles out of the way i have come up with some other ideas. All require me to obtain a welder.
1st, i am going to make some new mounting brackets for the ARB bumper that will be longer and use the rearmost bolt location for added strength, i already have some 3/16th i am using for this. Then i want to take these and shim them properly to center the bumper and weld them to the ARB mounting brackets so it will always fit perfectly.
Then i want to beef up the ARB shackle mounts with some 1/4" steel and use a piece big enough to reinforce the whole area of the ARB that attaches to the mounting brackets. Then i with the whole bumper bolted up to the jeep i will remove it in once piece bumper and brackets together (the way its supposed to be installed/removed) and then weld the bumper to the brackets completely creating a nice strong bracket that extends from the shackle mounts all the way back to the large mounting hole in the unibody.
Next i want to remove the turn signals on the face of the ARB and remove the roller fairlead mount and close up all the holes on the surface of the ARB ( I have decided i cannot afford nor plan to buy/run a winch for weight purposes mostly).
Finally i want to take a piece of 2/6 square tube and weld it in between both of the vertical members of the ARB in the space where the winch would have been and make this an integral cross member for even more strength.
Finally i will have it all sand blasted to clean it up ad remove any rust it has and repaint it in gloss black paint.
2nd, option 1 (these options will mostly just require a welder but will be fairly inexpensive.)
Remove rear seat and weld in a bit of structure to create a completely flat rear cargo area from the back of the front seats to the rear of the jeep. This will only work if i get a DD.
2nd, option 2
I want to remove the rear bench seat completely and make some brackets and put a set of foward folding tj seats (like my front seats) in the back and run rear bucket seats. I will trim out the floor so it has a clean look and herc the whole rear floor area. And make or customize a center console for in between the rear buckets.
2nd, option 3
Remove the rear bench seat, level and box off the area under the stock rear bench to be totally flat and mount a more easily removed TJ rear seat in place of the stock rear bench seat. (I already have that matches my front sahara seats)
3rd, TNT Y link and unibody stiffeners.
More ideas to be added later, opinions welcome.
