the bottom bar... it prolly kills your approach angle... and i doubt it does any good, unless you want to keep cows from going under your jeep. (hense the name cow catcher)

those things on the bottom of locomotives are cow catchers so thats what their analogy is i assume its there on his jeep to protect the crossmember section
