gotta a 95 xj. and have the doorless mod done. so its a pain in the ass to get the front doors off cuz the speakers. i bought a pair of 4x6 speakers and test fit them up there and they have more than enough room right behind the speaker vents on the lower dash. has ne1 else done this already? some sorta bracket makin will have to take effect. ne ideas? i figured it would be a cheaper fix than that Q logic quarter panel from the write up.

You gotta hack some metal/plastic up behind there but its doable.
I have a 3" CB speaker on the driver's side with room to spare. I wouldnt go bigger than a 4" or 4x6 though, i'd want room for some sound deadening material.

k. so i got one of the speakers mounted and working. no braket makin as of yet tho. dont have the sheet metal. right now its zip tied pretty tight to wiring and dash clears with ease. 1 zip tie per corner of speaker. holds good. if it presents no problems then i will just leave it liek that. will get pics up wen i get my camera back.

jeez zip tied?
its the audio guru in me but those must rattle like a mother and you're losing almost all your bass without any insulation/sound deadening behind and around the speaker.

I havent been on the highway w/o doors yet, but my rear two 6.5" pioneer 3-ways (which arent that great of a speaker, and one has a rip in the cone, yet still works surprisingly well) can overpower the wind/tire noise I have. Oh, you have TSLs. To overcome those you might need these:

you dont need a lot of dynamat, just enough if the dash rattles, which is prob wont since the speakers arent gonna be pushing that much bass.
you need to worry about behind the speaker more than anything. they make foam surrounds or you can just throw some kinda speaker insulation behind it.
