i need some thoughts and opinion for a design for a rear window of a 97+ xj. I figured instead of paying for a new window i will just take plexiglass/lexan and cut it to the size of the window. I will then put 2 or 3 hinges along the top and 3 latches, 1 on each side and 1 on the bottom which would be lockable. I would put weatherstripping along the seem to keep it weathertight. The hinges are going to be similar to wrangler door hinges with a pin style so it could be removable while unlatched.

You want to be able to remove the window? Do something like a avalanche design.

either fully removable or like an explorer window that flips up and has struts to hold it open. even better the potential to do both with one setup, shouldnt be too difficult.

the lexan i got from Home Guido is really flimsy, it has pretty much no backing to it. scratches wicked easy but is unbreakable. and its about half the weight of glass.

Go rape a Del sol and grab the rear window lift set up. x2. Fab something thats works. You'll hate yourself once its wet out and you cant defrost that rear lexan.
