The other day I took my suburban through some mud and on some trails and used the 4 wheel. when i left the place it felt like the 4wd wasnt fully dissengaged. driving on pavement every now nd then the wheel would pulse one way or the other randomly. I pulled into a parking lot and when i made a left turn the left hub made a clicking sound. It continued to do it so i stopped driving it. any ideas what could be wrong???

It didnt disconnect of 4wd, you need to disengage from 4wd on loose ground and some times shift through the gears to get it to disenagae, you will knwo when its out when you can do rear wheel burn outs again. the gerking on pvmt is normal in any 4wd on dry pvmt.

I forget what rig it was, but a buddy of mine had to drive in reverse for a certain distance, something like 10ft, to fully disengage 4wd.

My Pathfinder had to be driven in reverse to fully disconnect the hubs.
Try putting in back in 4wd and driving forward. Then stop and put it back in 2wd. After that, back up at least 15 feet. You might actually hear the hubs disengage when you do this.

no luck, still clicks. For the record, its not light clicks though. It is 2 loud clciks that you actually feel the truck move.

check to see that u have transfercase fluid up to the right level and then pop the case in 4wheel, move a few feet and while rolling slowly pop it in 2 wheel and go to neutral than back to drive and see if that works

Also check the outter CV joints. I have had other vehicles that when the CV joint goes, the balls inside click and if its really bad can cause binding and jerking of the steering wheel. Most likely it has to do with the 4wd, but the checking the cv cant hurt. As far as the reverse to disengage the 4wd, Chevys dont do that (or dont to it to my knowledge). I do know that Fords with vacuum disconnect front axles required you to do that though.

Is your flux capacitor running smoothly? I would look into that as well.

you know that goddamn flux capacitor has been a pain in my ass since the start. Never worked right. But me and the conuistador think that my CV is bad or i stripped off some teeth some where. The CV spins then stops then spins then stops.

def either the half shaft or the hub. gotta take it apart to find out which. somwhere some splines were desrtroyed. good thing is that they are fairly inexpensive parts.

I dont know how the 4wd engages on those things but on my exploder I had auto locking hubs which I had to go in reverse for about 10-15 feet to fully disengage.
