i wicked strong magnet on a stick, or pull the other side shaft, pull diff cover, pull locker/carrier, pull out busted part of shaft..... then re-assemble and be back on the trail 3 hours later

so for the amount of money, i want to concentrate on the axle $200. then front shafts, is that what comes with the 5 on 5.5? new gears, i'm thinkin 4.10s. brake parts. brackets. hubs. not worried about a locker right now. if so, just a lockrite. mostly, i want to build an axle for strength, be able to slam it a little, and not be worried about fuckin up the housing. it's not so much the work as it is the cost, i want to build up my samurai a bit too..

how come you want to upgrade?
will runs 35's on his dana 30 and hasn't had problems (that i know of)

watching sam's 44 bring dragged over boulders is not nearly gut wrenching as if will were to let that happen to his 30 a 30 housing getting dragged over rocks is no less risky than a 44. its just about what diff cover you have on there. its not like youre gonna shatter the housing on a rock, and if you are, u better be worried about if you had a 44 anyway if youre wheeling like that

4:10's are for 31's, do it once, with 33's i would go with 4:88's unless you want to run even larger tires with this axle go deeper.
and when you regear you need a new carrier anyway, so might as well go beefy with a full case locker, instead of a weenie lunchbox (well as compared to a full case they are weenie)
