recently i randomly got this weird "pulse" if you will, in my steering. kinda like its in 4wd but its not. when i turn, the steering wheel pulses back and forth. i have a non disco d30 so i have no idea what this is. the tcase IS disengaged but feels like its stuck in 4wd. what could this be?

yeah that movement in the wheel is deffinatly from being in 4WD but if the Tcase is disengaged then maybe the syncro assembly in the tcase is stuck or the shift fork isnt working properly

but wouldnt that mean i am in 4wd all the time? cuz i know for a fact that only the rear tires turn but the 4wd works if i engage it. nothing has changed or broken, my steering just got wierd, i feel like this is so bazaar.

yeah that is weirsd... that steering wheel acting like that is usualy from turning if 4WD because the inside tires are turing at the same speed as the outside (which shouldnt and doesnt happen in 2WD)so the wheels want to push the steering straight... do you have like a limited slip differential in the front or is it an open carrier? if you knwo its not in 4WD then im not sure... thats very odd

nope, no lsd or anything in front, open carrier. the only thing i can think of is maybe something is lodged in the spiders but then again.... i went wheeling today and had one tire spinning.
maybe my steering box?

I just read your post over again, and i have the EXACT same problem.

front drive shaft will always spin if the front tires are turning. it's the t-case that engages and disengages the power to the shaft.. unless you put it on a lift.
