so my girlfriends mom has a 87 yj that she got recently. (will, youve seen it, its now painted green) and she is putting a 3" lift on it. shes not sure as to what tires shes running yet, what would be a good size tire for that.

31 inch tires look like your only reasonable option unless you feel like trimming or adding to your bump stops

they are just sheet metal like the XJs...just kinda work with it...

You can trim the outter lip of the fender flares a good inch or more. Might be just what you need. You should be able to fit 33's on a 3". My first lift was a 4.5" lift and it cleared 35's.
