I have my 98 xj and i always want a 5 speed, but could never find one. I have read the link on the Auto to manual swap thread but that states nothing aboutspecific trannys.
This is likely not going to happen any time soon but My goal is to get a 6 speed out of a newer tj, and use a custom drive shaft. But ia m looking at about $900 just for the tranny plus all the other parts i will need.
Now what if a 93 xj with a 5 spped happens to come to my poession for free for dirt cheap with a recently rebuilt tranny and everything i would need. I know its not the best tranny but it would work for dd use at least.
Now my main question is, if i do put in that 5 speed, would it be easy enough to swap it out at a later date for the 6 speed?
