How hard are these to replace, mine stared makin noise the other day, both in 4wd and 2. feels like i have oval wheels when i cut the wheel and turn.

not hard at all, they were actually the first ujoint job i ever did and it was straightforward. same way u do any other ujoint job, just get that 36mm socket out

do i have to pull the axle out of the housing? do the 30's have c clips? or can it be done with the axle still in the housing?

You have to pull the axles out to replace the u-joints. There is a c-clip on the inner shaft of the passanger side, BUT you do not have to take it out since it is a 2 piece shaft. Basically, remove tire, caliper, rotor etc. Remove the three 13mm, 12 point bolts on the back of the unit bearing. Remove unit bearing now. Pull axle shafts out. Replace u-joints. Reinstall in reverse.
