Anyone who uses more then .0002% of their brain for normal dailey function would have already said 'Phil, you suck at buying tires'.
So I call out to you guys, for some guidance, what should my next tire be? I have the money and up to $700 to spend on a set of 4 33x12.5x15 tires. I will be keeping one MTR though for a spare, the best one with the 'heathiest' 8% tread
Also, smart people realize this is my daily driver, so lets all use our sence accordinly. Dont link me to some 38" Fawking Bias tire. road noise wont bother me either, it would just drone out the rest of the Fawking noises my jeep makes.

look into goodyear MTRs (again) - great dry rock tire, typically good treadlife BFG MTs - good all around terrain, weak sidewall though comparitively, wears like iron mickey thompson MTZs - have heard nothing but good things about this relatively new tire cooper discoverer STTs - YOU KNOW ;D maxxis bighorn radials - havnt heard a whole lot, but i looked into them and i liked their tread style, may be worth some research interco trxus MTs -typically hard to balance, varying reports of tread life, but apparently a great tire for our regions terrain Toyo open country MTs - i just think these tires are bad ass, good in all terrains, but kind of overpriced. or you could always view some PROCOMP MTs

I really think, after some research, it is down the the Coops, the MTRs or the MTZ. All I know is the MTRz are great for rocks but suck for mud and the only way to get to rocks anywhere in the northeast is to get through mud. So thats my problem with the MTRs. I havent heard anything about the MTZs or the Coops yet, but they are still higher on the list.

Id love to see your truck on some toyos. Trxus would be a good choice for you too as much as i hate to say it. Dont go coops though cause when will gets em we could compare coops to toyo :brows: and unless your gonna concentrate mainly on rocks only i wouldnt go for the MTRs again it really depends on what you want to wheel the most

i like my BFGs and all. but by no means are their sidewalls better than an MTR, or really good at all
their traction and tread is good though

If the BFGs had sidewalls like the MTR, I'd buy the BFGs in a heartbeat. there is too much mud and loose soil around the northeast for running a strict rock tire like the MTR.

I've spent all morning researching the Cooper STTs and found that they are a great tire and I can get a set for a decent price. what I've been reading so far was that its a great DD/mud tire. Worked great for icy conditions, mud and the harder then average tire makes it wear evenly and smoothly on the roads, but in turn, ive read reports that this hard rubber doesn't grip on rocks as well as it should. I have to be skeptical though becuase these reports where also coming from a guy with a buggy and 37" coops and it looked like he did nothing but rock crawl. I dont think the coops where even designed for strict rock crawling, so I'll take a few of these reviews with a few grains of salt.
I cant even FIND anything on the Mickey Thompson MTZ.

My mistake, they are both 3 ply sidewalls however, the MTR just doesn't have enough meat. They are geared more for rocks. The BFG M/T is better for the mud. Also they seem to wear very well, last a very long time.

Will, what kind of 'varying reports' have you heard about Tread life and wear for the TrXuS MTs?

some people say they have rotated them often and gotten a good 40k+ out of them others say they did the same and had awful luck with tread wear only lasting like 19k or so, this isnt just a couple random web wheelers. its been pretty uniform experience ive read
what it comes down to is interco's quality control is pretty craptacular and people receive out of round tires and stuff like that which adds to balancing issues and the like. but i think regardless of all that crap its a bad ass tire and Real good in our terrain.

TRXUUSSSSSSSS MTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...... Dude best radial mud tire on the planet, i have run them and BFG MTs and BFGs suck cock like Lindsay Lohan compared to them, i had um on the ZJ and put 15k on um and sold um for 400 bucks, they still looked brand new.... the side lugs are massive like all swampers, they make a nice hum (not deafening) on the road and they bite like paris hilton while sucking cock on the trails.... their on trail performance was closer to my LTBs than it was to the BFGs, if the YJ was my DD it was 100% absolutely have Trxus on um.... MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION COUSTEAU

I bought a set of mtrs Used and they had more "meat" than a new set of bfgs so i dont really know what your talking about there. Im not reccomending mtrs for phil. but they have the toughest sidewalls on any radial ive ever seen(minus iroks) But anyone who runs radial iroks must not be all there anyway so disreguard that. AND BFGs dont do nearly as well on rocks as the Mtrs. Bfg Mt that is hahaha

The problem I see with the TRXUS is getting an out of rount tire. I know they are heavy and can be hard to balance, thats not the problem. I don't want a tire in the shape of a fucking egg because it is a pain in the ass to mount all the tires, find one is a fucking dud and send it back for a new one. Unless someone assures me that every TRXUS will be leaving the Interco plant will not be square, or egg shaped or eliptical, or anything but round, then I'll look elsewhere.
