the vehicle: 1991 xj 64" wide fsj dana44's 35's
on a budget, so don't reccomend something super-expensive.
the mini spool would be good for if i ever decide I don't like it, I could easily take it out and swap an aussie in it.
but a detroit is obviously stronger than a lunchbox.
so far I'm leaning towards open front, detroit rear (I could always drop an aussie in the front).
too many options

honestly i know u said your on a budget but if u want the thing to be legit, spool the rear and save up for a selectable ARB or OX... a locker up front BLOWS on the street, and an open front BLOWS on the trail..... so lock the rear then wait a couple months or how ever long and get a selectable

how bad would it really be? It seems many people are running auto-lockers up front and are happy with them.
is a full spool really much stronger than a mini spool?
I want the mini basically because If I decide I hate it I could always take it out and not have to have it regeared again.

On a budget, Id say mini spool rear. If not, full spool if its mainly a trail rig. Aussie front would be a good idea. Or at least an Aussie front. I had just an Aussie in front and it was the biggest improvement I had done. Id recommend a front locker in a heartbeat.

best combo ever. full spool rear or weld it with a selectable up front. dont run a mini spool it will beat the crap out of your carrier in the 44. what are you doing for gears?
