an AAL with blocks is a worst case scenario for leafs. avoid blocks at all costs with cherokee leafs get TNT boomerang shackles, theyre actual true lift height unlike RE's www.tntcustoms.com

i already use an aal with stock packs.. can i add more leaf's to it? YES here is what will happen to your leaves/ride if you do the following; shackles: will get you the lift, ride and flex nicer. but there is a chance your leaves will be flat in a month or so. blocks: you will get the lift, it will ride as it does now, but you will most likely get some spring wrap and there is a chance your leaves will sag in a month or so add-another-leaf: will probably flex and ride like crap, but it would last longer than the above options. I cast my vote for some s10 or mj leaf packs and swap them in under your xj main leaf. Then maybe add a shackle if you would like more flex and lift. the s10/mj leaves will also be cheaper than a shackle or block (and u-bolts) as long as you arent afraid to get under a truck at the junkyard and pull the suckers off yourself.

YES sam here has built his rig on a pretty nasty budget so id take what he said into consideration myself IMHO i wouldnt wanna keep band-aiding my leaf pack especially after the add a leaf. new full packs are always an option as well. i ran an AAL and it was more than great for what i wanted it for, but i knew i was only using it for 6 months before my RE kit. or...........play for total keeps and get some alcans..

used to be a nasty budget. first 3" lift- $50 3" coils free zj lca's $35 mj rear springs $80 bds shocks for 4" lift free 1.5" shackle (had it lying around from my last jeep) reloacted brakelines DIY alignment with string and measuring tape total cost=$165 next step in lift 5" tossed some 2" spacers in there and a couple more leaves in my leaf pack. both free. and some yj brakehoses all around for about $60 diy alignement total cost=$225 tossed some 32" mud terrains i got from some punk kid under there and gave both those setups hell. ;D Now the next step is getting too expensive...

I agree w/ what MR. Metal says. Just get some 4" or 4.5" leafs and be done with it. Never worry about new leafs again. If you ever go bigger... there are always U bolt Eliminators and or Shackle Lift, which would give ya Another 1/2" - 3" total if you ever wanted it. but... You really really don't need to be any higher unless you go bigger tires. Why go higher if you aren't rubbing? ALSO higher runs the chance of NEEDing a SYE, which sucks if you don't have the money. My driveshaft is ready to snap in half any day now. 4.5-5" of lift is enough for 35s and your still on 32s. My rear is down to 6.5 and I can clear 37s and I am about to bring the front down to 6.5 and I am assuming the 37s will still stuff... and if not... I am going to cut more.

what they said
also, what is this about removing your shackle to put in an AAL, why would you do such a thing?? there have been many times i have heard of this but i dont understand what removing your shackle would do for you, especially to add an AAL

And my 32's do rub when it flex's.. Thats why i wanted a little kick.. only an inch or so.. but ill have to look into full leaf packs i guess.. was trying to keep it cheap till i can afford a full pack'ed RE kit..

o, i guess it might be easier, but if you think about the hassle of taking it out for the 2 minutes it takes to put the AAL in, and then putting it back in. it doesnt make sense. plus if the thing breaks then you are crap out of luck and have to order some new stuff, unless you have it laying around or can weld new stuff. maybe its just me. when i did the first lift on my dodge(was a rear AAL) i had the it jacked up sooo high that there was room to get a chair and sit under it. and with the jeep, it wasnt that high, but i still had no prob getting in/under there to work. doesnt really matter in the end what you do/did though. your jeep, your time and money spent. now on to fun time!!!!!
