hey guys i was tryin to install rusty's 3" lift last night. no matter what i do i cannot get the upper control arm tab on the axle and the upper control arm to line back up so i can bolt the upper control arm back in. it seems like the arm is like 3/4"-1" too short, like i got too much lift. i jacked the axle all up and down at different heights and nothing really helps. the only thing holding the front axle on is the LCA's, steering, and driveshaft.
i would like to get this thing done today, but if i have to i guess i will order some longer UCA's. but..........i am not suposed to need them with this kit. PLEASE HELP!!!!
if anyone wants to they can call me 203-650-9315. and maybe they can come help me out if they have any ideas or know exactly what to do in this case, like they have run into it before.
THANKS

i think everyones at work today, including me in an hour, but for what its worth, the arms are almost alllllways a bitch to line up. if you can get someone else with you, negotiate with it back and forth up and down, pullin on either side to twist it.(the axle) so on and so forth. itll line up. just make sure u have someone else doing all the moving so at that right second u can send the bolt through. you may have to try one side at a time.if you have a prybar, maybe try using that to line up the holes. or we've had good luck using the bottle jack to lever on the pinion or whatever else to rotate the axle. i ran all stock arms up front on my rustys 3" and it worked. my RE arms were a major bitch i remember. also, refer to Ryan (skyjackerxj)'s post here mrmontez2000.proboards70.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=1159847067

aight thanks. i just was out there for about an hour and i took a ratchet strap and tried to pull it back some. it worked some what but i still couldnt get it far enough. i am gonna see if i can get my buddy back over and have him bring his come-a-long over and use that. it seems like the only amount we can get it to go back is then held up by the LCA mount. the LCA hits the mount and it seems like we arent able to get it to rotate anymore. well i will try try try. but this is really pissing me off. i have had much more trouble doin this 3" on this xj then when i did the 8" on my dodge. we tried the bottle jack to rotate it, but it only goes so far and then nothing. back to the garage for me..........

dont disconnect the control arms if you arent replacing them next time. putting my old 3" springs was made very easy with a stratigicly placed bottle jack and an autozone spring compressor. but yeah you are gonna have to tug quite a bit on the axle to pullit back. you should get long arms i have enough droop to pull my coils out without disconnecting anything lol.

hey thanks guys. i ended up pullin out the new coils, and got the control arms mounted back up. i forgot i had a spring compressor ( me ) so i pulled it out and got crankin. well after i cranked it down a bit and i was sitting there, i realized that the spring compressor i have, that i used when i lifted my dodge, will not work because this one goes inside the coils. and the damn bumpstops are in the way then. well after that i ran out of time, i had i thing to go to, but on my way home i stopped by autozone and free rented a strut compressor(goes on the outside of the coil) soooo after i get home from workin some OT tom. i will see if i can finish the lift up.

aight so i got a little bit of vibes. nothin real bad. just a little bit around 25-30 (very slight). and when i take the gas off on the highway over 60 there is a slight grinding noise.
i am gonna wait to do an sye/cv shaft. just gonna do a t-case drop for now.
does anyone have one for sale? or work some place that has one or something like that? i dont feel like ordering one online.
also, the same thing with JKS quick disco's.
please let me know asap. i guess i could go to g-force and see if they have them/can get them asap.
thanks
got to get an alignment soon too.

you can make a t-case drop out of stacked washers, pretty common. longer bolts and washers.

i will have to pull out one of the bolts to get some measurements to get some at Home Guido. unless anyone knows what size bolt it is? also the length? what do you think 1" drop? maybe lower? i am not too concerned about the loss in clearance from the drop.

How much lift did you net from that lift kit? Was it 3" or are you at like something around the area of 5...?
