I decided one day while waiting for justin to arrive at my house that i was gonna relocate my gas tank in the tub of my jeep.
So, Here is what i did.
The mod was simple.
Step 1. Drop the tank. Theres 1 sensor and 2 fuel lines that must be disconected first. 5 nuts holding it to the chassis, and remove the filler neck via 8 self tappers.
Step 2 Place tank in tub. I put mine flush up against my tail gate so i would still be able to recline. Also instead of using straps to hold it in place I drilled 3 holes in the stock skid and tub and bolted it down to the tub and just left the tank and skid as one piece in the back. That suckers not goin anywhere.
Step 3 Extend your lines. For the sensor you can just trace it back to where its spliced into the harness and disconect it from all its mounting spots and re run it to where you relocate it. I had plenty of slack. One of the lines you need to get about 3-4 feet of 3/16 fuel line and replace the old 6 inch piece. The hard plastic fuel line also needs to be extended about 2 feet or so. I found a quick connect piece at autozone that i spiced into the existing line (i actually had to use two of them)
Step 4. Finish up the detail work. Create your encolsure or whatever you want to do to make it look clean and call it a day. Im just gonna throw a duster on the tub so people cant see it.
Step 5. Go out wheelin and NOT get hung up on your Low gas tank.
Pics will arrive shortly

I opted for a cell. This 15 gallon one I bought fits behind the rear seat too!

Yeah. I took some measurements and a 15 gallon tank fits right behing the seat should I decide to run one. I didnt want to lose any more cargo space with a square one taking up the entire back or whatever. I also like it because its super easy to fill. The neck sits almost flush with the top of the tailgate, so I can refuel without opening the gate, just the hatch.

not any time in the near future. Well, let me not say that yet. Im keeping my eye out for some some 60's or something. Should I decide to go with those, I may consider that option. However, Clayton had to modify (notch) the frame to accept the shocks, rear upper spring plates etc so then that would need to be done to the rear again costing significantly more I would assume. Id have to show you pics of what it looks like. Justin, CorEy, Will, Dan, and Phil have seen the rear. So as of right now, no. I mainly put the cell in the rear so I wouldnt crush the tank, and when I finish the exhaust, it might give me a little more room to work with.
