My crazy tranny idea

I currently driv ean xj with an aw4. i hate automatics and miss my old 87 xj with the 5 speed dearly. to boot my aw4 shifts like crap is has been beat pretty well.

I was wiht a bunch of my buddys last night and having already done an auto to manual swap before they offered to help me swap in a 5 speed to my xj when i can afford it or when my aw4 dies.

Dont worry we already know everything that is entailed with swapping trannys and will be prepared to do the swap when ever it happes. we will be using this thread to help.

ther is a great chance i will be getting a 93 xj with the poopoo 5 speed next fall for free with a new clutcha nd flywheel and fully rebuilt or i can get the better ax 15.

Now i dont know if this will work or not but my brilliant idea is when doing the swap salvage a 6 speed manual and t case form a totaled 04+tj adn swap that in to my xj. there fore i would have the only if not one of the few 6 speed xj's.

my rig is a DD and i am prepared to wheel with a stick. I have always hated autos but i could not find one when i bought my xj. I think it will be a great swap and a great learning experience.
