not sure how involved you want to get, but there is some crazy ridiculous write up where the guy chopped the rockers out and replaced the entire thing with some 2x6x3/16"

I'm building my Brother some Integrated rock panel/sliders on his 96XJ within a couple weeks kind of like what your talking about. But my plan right now is to use 2x4 box tubing wasn't planing on them sticking out like normal rock sliders more like a hidden rock slider.
I can tell you how it goes.

i like the 2x6 because they stick out a couple inches
good for door protection
they honestly fit like a glove
i cut the old rockers out (fuked up from stocker wheeling once lawl)
had to trim the ends of the seatbelt bolts off
and from then the tube fit like a glove. i just put my jack on it to press it tight against the jeep.
its been welded to just sheet metal for about a year now, and has taken some hard hits (like my whole jeep landing on them from a foot in the air. and it shows. the door seals need the occasional pounding to get back into shape

If I was gonna go with the box steel I'd prolly do the 2x6 and add some square outriggers to make it look more like the jcr stage 2's, but I guess I could do the 2x4 steel just as a replacement and then buy regular sliders, but that depends on how much the steel costs, and possibly the cost to have the tube welded in as I have no experience welding anything structural

Touché sir, I guess I'll roll with the 2x6, do you have an pics of where you made your cuts, including the seat belt thing, and how you welded it in?
And customcreations, when you get yours done let me know, I'd like to check it out
