Just gettin into it. I have friends with TJs but I'm the only one thats liftin an XJ. I want something reasonably priced. 3-4inch realisticly." I don't know the difference in companies. So point me in the right direction.
I don't know what I'll need for the lift to make sure it all works. I know the basics, -full leaf (add-a-leaf not for me) -coil -shock (dampner) -control arms
But do I need driveshaft at this hight? Any other parts. I'll look into disconects later. Expecting to do fender trim work.
New or used. hopefully under 500-600.
My suspension rusted through officially so if i'm gonna replace it, gonna do it with style.

Id look into the Rusty 3 inch kit for the price u have. I have that kit and it works well. You do not need very much for a 3 inch kit, basically the springs and shocks. I added LCAs after I got the lift but they are not nessacary. You prolly wont need a SYE kit with 3 inchs of lift, but if you do you can save some money and get a t-case drop kit, or get the PORC SYE and an Auto XJ front drive shaft.

I have a T-case drop kit that we just never used. Lol. I'll see if I can locate it, then see if I really need it w/ 3.5"

Question about the LCA replacements. I've noticed that a lot of the kits include the LCAs. Is the strength/durability the primary advantage to the new LCAs or are there other benefits too?

coming from a rusty's lift i'd never go cheap again. RE, RK, & BDS make great 3-4" kits. personally, i'll never do suspension on a budget after adding to and replacing parts on this kit. Question about the LCA replacements. I've noticed that a lot of the kits include the LCAs. Is the strength/durability the primary advantage to the new LCAs or are there other benefits too? strength most of all, stockers are pretty weak. only ones worth buying have a flex joint.

I have the RE3.5 lift. I obviously havent wheeled it yet, but... I am pretty sure Phil has the same lift or a very similar one and that thing is still running strong. Did this dude ever return to the forum? lol

Apologies for the delay. Puttin up with midterms now so didn't have much time.
I really don't care if its new or used, as long as its not gonna sag.
So from what I've seen, Rough Country is the way to go? Haven't seen anything used on any forums, so might end up buyin a kit fairly soon. My rear dampner blew out this week, and my leaf is saggin 3 inches low on right driverside...
Should I know anything about other companies? I've heard mixed on Skyjacker and other companies so i'm not sure what te safest bet.
As soon as i have more time I will post in the other section.

rough country is generally considered the bottom of the barrel for lift kits. Top of the line would be Rubicon Express or Old Man Emu. Google em for links.

I have a bastardized RE lift and I would reccommend at the very least the superflex arms.. you can get them used on NAXJA.org and various other sites.... I pieced my lift together, made a bastard leaf pack and it rides/flexes awesome, wouldnt change anything. total cost of my lift parts was probably like 200-300$ I pieced it together over time and then lifted my jeep.

Discos are a good idea too if you like having control around corners. with the stock ones, you will likely tear em apart in no time if they even match up. I went through 3 sets on my zj before I smartened up. I wish I had just done it right to begin with.

Id stay as far away from Rough Country as possible. Every Xj with an RC lift has sagged. Id stick to RE or RK as well Rubiconexpress.com www.rockkrawler.com/Avoid, Rough country, sky jacker, super lift, all the big names etc. I am a devot RE man myself, always used rubiconexpress, may be a little more but comes with better components, and more complete kits.

i got my Rustys 3" HD kit with full leaf packs and shocks for around 475 shipped. I have no complaints and it actually works pretty well. I also got closer to 3.5"- 4" of lift

Well. The Rusty's kits look like a sweet deal. Anyword on their inhouse shocks? Or should I opt for the better ones? I'm lookin at the 3, but thinking about maybe opting for the 4.5 but I'm worried that it'll need a lot more work and it won't be done right without extra funds then. Last question, if I do the 3", and i want to space it up a bit, would shackles do a decent job to give it that little bit extra for 32s or is it better to just get the better kit.
Thanks all. My friend told me about that site and am not disappointed at all.
