I just picked up, for free, an empty Oxygen bottle that appears to be used for the oxy/acc setups. Its tall, maybe 4 feet or so but I need to make sure its in date. My plan is to turn in my 60cf 75/20 tank and this tank (if its still in date), to upgrade to a bigger tank. Does anyone know how to decipher the codes stamped on the outside of the bottle?

look at the top of the bottle... there will likely be multiple dates shown in a format such as 01(sym)09... sym being a cluster of two numbers and two letters one above the other... this is the dot cert number of the test site. a hydro test on a steel tank like this is good for 5 years
look at the latest date... it is likely highlighted in a box of paint... usually white
if you want any other info about the tank, let me know and I'll go through the numbers with you

airgas wouldn't let me bring in another cylinder that we had in the shop. They refused to use it as an exchange.

The guy at the Hocon in Waterbury is really good. He has been far cheaper than Abco in Cheshire and Airgas . Overall he is much more personable and when I do have to buy welding supplies I dont mind spending my money at Hocon.
