o no when we got an estimate last time thats what he did and then he said to wait and see if it did the same thing so unfortunately no quick fix

ok this is what is wrong- the clutches are burnt which causes the fluid to smell burnt
prob from running low on fluid
we are going to replace the pan gasket and the filter, is that difficult

no. drop the crossmember and replace and clean up the mating surfaces.

several bolts, i think they are 13mm if i remember right.. drop it, drain, put new filter in, put bolts back on.. refill

Last time I heard that a tranny was only going to take 8 hours.....it turned into 4 days ....so lets not jinx ourselves
