i woudnt do it without doing an SYE and new DS, especially on a TJ. I usually forget about SYE, which is a good point, it's just so natural to me to have one - I couldn't imagine not having one.

The average price difference between a D44 and an 8.8 is near $500 due to demand for the D44 vs 8.8. Since the largest tires I ever plan on running with my current jeep will be 33"s, both the D44 and the 8.8 will be considered by some to be overkill anyhow. Pete: spring buckets and what else would I need? Can I just use the spring buckets from my D35?

Not a bad price, but I would spend more than I'm saving by having to regear to 4.10. Although I do plan on going with 4.88 gearing, but that's when I go for the 33"s. One thing at a time, don't have monies

Shane I think we could save your brackets if we cut them off with my plasma cutter.

JMO but I wouldn't reuse d35 perches unless you are REALLLLY tight. BUT, I would be more comfortable if they were cut off with a plasma, considering the precision.

We are really tight. I'm thinking I might pick up the axle, and see about slowly getting the other parts together I wish I knew more. The write-up was good, but I don't know the measurements, angles, what parts I NEED and what parts are just recommended. Unfortunately I know almost as little about what I'm doing as riot

I would take the truck altogether if I had a way to store it and transport it. Then worry about figuring out what else needs to be done. I can get more than $100 in scrap metal from it. The front in that truck, is that an offset diff? I wish I knew more about this stuff. I do know that a D44 with 4.10 gears, disk brakes, and any kind of locker (to include a Ltd slip) is going to run me WAY more than an 8.8 out of a late 90's explorer that has all those things already built in. I have been looking all over and $350 isn't a bad price when you consider adding all those parts to a stock D44 is going to run me over that price in parts alone. I am planning on getting the 8.8 (If Nica and our bills allow it), but the question isn't what axle I should get. My question is much more along the lines of "How much needs to be done/what needs to be done for me to make it work in my TJ?" I have received alot of help, but at the same time, alot of it is "greek to me" I understand I need spring buckets, and have been told I can re-use the ones from my D35. Do I need a new driveshaft? Are the angles the same, or do I NEED an sye as well? I'm trying to be as cheap as I can without fucking it up. Wheel spacers, do I need them? Again, I thank all of you that have been finding axles, but I'm looking for something with at least 4.10 gears, a locker (even if it is just a Ltd slip), and preferably disk brakes (one less upgrade). I also thank those that have been giving me advice, and offering help, it really is appreciated, and since I don't really have any real skills or knowledge on this subject, I will most likely take some of you up on your offers.

Nica says I can grab the axle, and I plan on doing that.
Things I know I need, are: Spring buckets Shock mounts Brake calipers
Things I'm not sure about. E-brake conversion? Flange? SYE? New driveshaft?
Please correct me where I'm wrong, and add things that I cannot go without. Remember, this is my DD and I almost always have my son with me (I don't want any possible problems with him in the jeep).
