I need to change the rubber body end bushings on my RE lowers and i was wondering if anyone has ever done this before. I hear they have to be pressed in but they are the new style like a shock eye with a tapered hole in the arm not the stock jeep lca style. www.rubiconexpress.com/Jeep/XJ/Product.aspx?part=RE3704

I cant use those, mine dont have that metal sleve on them. The hole in the lca where the above bushing goes is lower in the middle than the edges, like a shock eye, and the bushing is narrower in the middle than the edges. RE does not use that stock style bushing any more. can i just lube it up like a shock eye bushing and push it in or how else would it be done? thats the builders end which is what comes on RE control arms now.

Kyle based on the design I would go at it like this... take a thin screwdriver and pry the edges of the bushing and spray wd40 or something like it into the gap between metal and rubber. Then once its all lubed up, use a hammer or vice whatever u may have and a couple big sockets to squeeze the rubber out

I would use a ball joint press and press it in while its all nice and lubed up

I will try a ball joint press i think. BTW WD40 will actually make a rubber bushing expand, you wanna use soap or sumtin to lube it.

I used a press but if you have a vice just lube them with soap and water and press them in. A big fuggen socket works good to put on the back end so it doesnt get squashed aganist the vice once it comes through on that side.
