people who say golf isnt a sport are the same ones who say nascar isnt one
i think nascar fails, but still recognize it as a sport
u sit in full gear, in a hot racecar for hours doing 100s of laps of endurance at high speed, and directly compete with people around u in a "field" of play

where we you when we were watching deadliest catch.. or how about this. I would like to see you reel in an 800lb marlin and tell me that you aren't tired or aren't on the bottom of the ocean fairly quickly. hardly. as in...most of the time its not. deadliest catch is not sport fishing. at all. but deep sea fishing is only physically demanding when you catch one. not before or after that. therefore, hardly. but sometimes. why is deadliest catch not a sport.. it's competitive and you can't be a fatty to do it. right well you aren't exactly "fishing" if you aren't catching anything. much mlike what I do when I try to fish, all I do is cast. so I'm not really fishing. which means what I and pedro were talking about "fishing" is physical. no less then the walking between putts and holes in golf then when you swing the club, then in fishing to hook the lure properly in the fishes mouth at the right time..

it's no great awe inspiring metaphor or simile for one another but there is an indirect relationship, yes.
