I just got a small 2.5 gallon fish tank for my dorm room. It's pretty basic. Just the tank, a filter, some gravel, and a couple fish. Pretty sweet way to liven up my room. But I have one problem. My filter's air pump is vibrating so much, and it makes a horrible loud ticking and vibration sound. Anyone have any tips to solve my problem?

Yeah, you could try and take a small wash cloth or towel and place it under the air pump so that it absorbs the vibrations.

I checked out the company's website. It mentioned that the rubber diaphragm could be shot. I figured this was not likely seeing as I just bought the dang thing today. So I unscrewed the pump, poked at the rubber diaphragm reassembled it, and now it's quiet as possible. So I fixed whatever was wrong I guess. Thanks for the help anyways Mike.

Yeah. I figured a nice little 2.5 gallon tank on my desk would make studying and school a little more homey. I have a 10 gallon tank and the stuff for it at home, it just never got set up.

hmmm.. my filter doesnt require an air pump, i just use my air pump to make bubbles and circulate the water, my filters just plugs into an outlet.
