To tell you the truth i hate cars like the gumpert (there were 1 or 2 others topgear tested) because they are for a sole purpose of being the next fastest road car. The way i see it they arent road cars, nobody in their right mind would buy one to drive around and show off in. Exotic cars are lamborghinis, bugattis, ferraris, etc. Not some knockoff company that takes an engine from some other company, puts some turbos or a supercharger on it, wraps it in carbon fiber like everybody else and calls it the next coolest thing.

I'd love to own a Pagani Zonda and that has a mercedes AMG motor. and the elise has a toyota celica motor. however i kinda agree, i would never buy something like the gumpert i think it is ugly as hell anyway

I don't see a problem with that, the elise still hovers around a 50k pricetag and you don't buy it to be a fast car, you buy for the excellent handling at good speeds. You can't even put the lotus cars in the same class as the ferrari or that Gumbert you posted.

Yea i know but at least those companies have names for themselves. Pagani is known for being the extreme exotic version of Mercedes if you want to buy a 400k supercar. Lotus has been known for a long time by building super small super lightweight sports cars to have unbelieveable handling. WTF can you say about Gumpert? All i can come up with is who the fuck are they? It just seems like some of these companies build these cars to throw themselves in the spotlight, not to be innovators.

i see your arguement but how are they not innovators? they designed the whole car except put their own motor in it, which they modified and tuned themselves. they made the fastest car to go around that track. even tho it uses audi's 4.2, they are able to make it that much better.

i dont see a problem with it either. my point is that there are other companies that use other companies engines that are not just for speed records. Some companies like gumpert dont have the funds for technology to build engines like that so they take others and make them better to built their super supercars. I dont see a problem with that cuz the cars they do make are incredible pieces of engineering. I also think it is exciting that small companies are trying to do things like that to push the limits of what is possible to create something amazing, even if they have to use other companies parts. I would never buy a gumpert or anything, but you have to respect them for the amazing car that they make.

yes and why cant ferrari, who obviously has a shit ton more money than gumpert, make something like that? i understand ferraris are the luxury supercar, but still. and i know the had the F40 and F50 and Enzo, but that stuff is old news these days.

Don't worry, after all these attempts at the greatest supercar ever built ferrari is planning something insane. I've heard reports about the new F70 and its should be awesome. I'm not sure when it's due to release but something tells me the enzo will be old news very soon. Ferrari doesn't come out with something every 2 years or so, they dont care what everybody else does because they have the greatest name in sports car history.
And no i wouldnt say ferrari is a luxury supercar, most of their latest and greatest supercars didnt even have a radio.
I see what you guys are saying about the Gumpert and i agree i probably was a little harsh with the statement. It's just that after the McLaren F1 and now the Veyron is seems like every small company that has the slightest amount of money is trying to throw themselves into being the next ferrari or something.

drew, no offense to mark but i dunno how good amr is as far as a tuning shop. Kelins sti was FULLY built with and put down a little over 400hp on 110 octane? It should have been way higher. I'd take a subaru any day they are pimp.

Back when i was on NASIOC i talked to 1874068148720708205762 people than ran 35R's with over 480-500whp on a dyno with 93oct.

I was sorta referring back to the pic of the blue one that jeep creep (drew) posted. That particular car was awesome, but another friend of mine had one (I'm pretty sure with a 35r) and It made like 409hp tuned and built by the same shop as the blue one.

AMR is a fairly new company dan and i wouldnt go anywhere near saying that they are the best, they are still learning.
