I know getting a 1 inch body/motor mount lift makes the driveline angle much better, but for all of you TJ owners, why do you have to do the body lift with the motor mount lift? Besides the fan hitting the shroud, which you can get rid of with an electric fan, why else if anything would I need the body lift as well? Just curious because I can't stand body lifts, but people praise doing the MM lift.

I run a 1"BL but dont have a MM lift. My problem with the shroud was then that it sat an inch too high. A powerdrill and about 2min of drilling will solve any issues with the shroud, only in your case, you may now have to cut the top down a bit to clear the hood. I havent run a shroud since i put in my new radiator 2 years ago. cant say that i noticed any difference with cooling between having it and not, so in my opinion, if its an issue, i would just lose it. on a 2.5L i could see the issue in needing one, but not on the 4.0. The only other things i can think of that may cause issue is hood clearance if you run an aftermarket cold air intake. such as a AEM Brute Force. if i was to guess, id say the clearances are pretty tight stock between the tube and the hood, may need to be modified if the engine sits an extra inch up. Other than that i would say to make sure you have enough clearance in the tranny tunnel at the back of the motor to make sure the bell housing wont hit after the MML. I may do a MML next time i wrench on my TJ, but to be honest, i havent heard the "great things" about them that you mentioned. to be honest, i havent heard much. care to share? Oh, and as for the BL, I agree, i dont like the looks of them, but the Poly 1 inch i installed deffinatly eliminated a noticable amount of body roll. Just a heads up for you if you can find stock size poly bushings. Just my 2 cents

i like my MM lift. i dont hit my oil pan on anything, even when in big rocks. also made my driveline angle nice when i did a flat skid. they are cheep and easy to install, so why not do it? i think you can clear a MM with no BL, they just throw the BL in their so you dont have to modify anything and for more clearance. one of these days i'll take of my BL

Speed, I want to do a tummy tucker and they say you need a MM lift in order to make it work. I've also heard that the MM lift reduces drivetrain vibration by quite a bit. Don't really "know" anyone personally that has experience, but I just read a lot online, and thats what I've seen. Who knows, maybe I'll get the MM lift, and if I cant get it to work, I'll just get the matching body lift. Poly body mounts would be nice too!
And grundlepunch, thanks for that info!

I did a 1in MM lift, huge difference. I had a SYE and DS and with the mm lift what little vibes i still has went away totally. like what grundle said too, my oil pan is really tucked up high.

Oh no offense was taken at all. Well see, I will probably end up doing it first, and then eventually get the tummy tucker. When I do though, I'll let you know how it goes, and if you DO in fact need a body lift as well, haha. Anyways, thanks for the help guys.
