Dude, I feel your pain. Same motor, same setup in my YJ. It's definately not a 5 minute job. The only good thing is the waterpumps are pretty inexpensive.

The only good thing is the waterpumps are pretty inexpensive. yea man. 27 bucks brand new. supposed to be 36 but i used to work at autozone and whne i quit they forgot to cancel my discount card creating a simple thing i call win Did it take out your radiator?? indeed

remove the whole engine. install cummins b series engine. now it only takes 10 minutes to change a water pump.
good luck in all seriousness. The one in my dodge went last week and i was pissed but it actually took longer to figure out where all the coolant was leaking from (bearing went on the shaft) then to change it. on the cummins the water pump has nothing to do with the fan. It was kinda nice with the truck running at 190 rather then the usual 165, but the coolant leak was not tolerable
