How does it run? Is the idle really high? Might be a bad mass air flow saying to much air is entering. Might be a bad O2 saying to much air in the exhaust. What ever it is its damaging his cat.

your O2 sensor is most likely shot because you cut the exhaust off haha. its over fueling and its not all burning in the cylinders.....not sure if your running a cat but temps in the cat can be over 600 degrees. a guy at work accidently poured gas onto a hot ass muffler and it ignited and im sure it was cooler than 600 degrees it was just on a lawn mower. the fuel could be burning inside the cat, if you got one, and shootin flames. looks sick tho

I have seen higher......but it wasn't for long.

looks to me like its just a high flow cat.
