So the old dana 30 in the 89 uses a vacuum disconnect, theres only 1 hose coming off the 98 dana 30 axle...is that just the breather or a vacuum disconnect setup..if it is a vacuum disconnect whats a good way to hook it up to the 89? cuz theres like 3 hoses going down to the axle. Also i heard there was a way with a couple washers to just permanently lock it in?

the 98 isn't vacuum disconnect, that hose you see is just a breather

Your putting a 98 axle in a 89? If thats the case then cap off the 3 vacuum lines.

Did the same thing to my comanche but put my old style knuckles on so I could re-use my brakes. Cap the vacuum lines or better yet do like I did and trace them back as far as possible and then cut and cap them.

sweet thanks for the advice.. ya its a 89 with a 4.0L 5 speed (3.07's) and i have an extra set of axles front dana 30 and rear 8.25 with 3.55's, so should make a nice combo for wheelin.
