I have the same thing. Its not my u joints because I recently changed and greased both sides on the front. I think its my control arms. It only happens when I turn my wheel to one side and nothing has ever come of it.
A few months ago I did however have a u joint that was broken and it made a god awful clacking noise.

Im gonna go control arm bushings how much lift do you have and on what type of arm? If the control arms have a really steep angle they stop working like there supposed to versus traveling on a arc thy start to jut up or (push up) twoard the mount which can kill bushings quick as well as really damage mounts and the unibody pending how hard you wheel.

Its just on turning though? or when in motion and turning? Do you get it sitting there and if you turn the wheel side to side? If thats the case check your steering linkage for a bind as well as the mounting bolts for the steering box

The steering box is not under your feet so i dought it's that. The easiest way to find it is follow the steering linkage up, its mounted the the inside of the unibody rail by the front crossmember. If its under your feet im going with bushings, but I wouldnt rule out the steering.
